THRISSUR: In a heartbreaking incident that has cast a pall of gloom over the campus, an MBBS student died after falling from a multi-story hostel building in Thrissur on Monday.
According to preliminary reports, the student was found critically injured on the ground floor premises of the hostel block by peers. Fellow students and hostel wardens immediately rushed the victim to the hospital's emergency and casualty wing. Despite the swift medical response and extensive efforts by the doctors, the student succumbed to the severe multi-system injuries sustained from the high-impact fall.
Local police arrived at the scene shortly after the administration alerted them and have since cordoned off the area. A detailed investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the fatal fall. Authorities are currently recording statements from roommates, friends, and hostel staff, examining all possible angles—including whether it was a tragic accident due to slipping or if other underlying issues like extreme academic or personal pressure played a role.
The body has been shifted to the mortuary for an official post-mortem examination, and the student's family has been notified. The college administration expressed deep shock over the untimely demise and is reportedly arranging counseling support for the traumatized students and staff.
