Kozhikode, April 17: In a major development in the Kozhikode murder case, police have recovered the mobile phones of Nazreena and her cousin Adnan from a well near the house where the incident occurred.
According to investigators, two phones belonging to Nazreena and one belonging to Adnan were retrieved from the well located on the eastern side of the house. The discovery has raised fresh questions, as the phones were initially missing during the first inspection of the crime scene.
Police suspect that the phones may have been deliberately disposed of to destroy evidence. However, how the devices ended up in the well remains unclear, adding to the mystery surrounding the case.
Preliminary findings indicate that Nazreena, a Class 10 student, was allegedly murdered by Adnan, who was later found dead inside the same house in a suspected suicide.
Investigators pointed out that the room where Adnan was found was locked from inside when police arrived, raising doubts about how the phones were thrown into the well. Authorities are now planning to question individuals who visited the house on the day of the incident.
The recovered phones have been sent for forensic and cyber examination to retrieve deleted data, messages, and call records that could provide crucial clues.
Police said further clarity on the sequence of events and the motive behind the crime is expected after detailed analysis of the devices and witness statements.
