"People's Mandate is Supreme": Pinarayi Vijayan Concedes Defeat as UDF Sweeps Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a stunning reversal of fortunes, the United Democratic Front (UDF) is set to return to power in Kerala, ending the decade-long reign of the Left Democratic Front (LDF). Breaking his silence following the announcement of the results, outgoing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan admitted that the scale of the defeat was "unexpected" but maintained that the party respects the will of the voters.

Addressing the media at the AKG Centre, a composed Vijayan extended his congratulations to the UDF leadership for their decisive victory. "The results are not what we anticipated. We believed our developmental agenda would resonate for a third term, but in a democracy, the people's verdict is final," he stated.

The Chief Minister noted that the party would conduct a deep-dive analysis into the factors that led to this loss. While the LDF managed to hold onto several strongholds, the UDF’s surge in coastal belts and urban centers proved insurmountable. This transition marks the end of an era for the LDF, which had been aiming for a historic "hat-trick" win. The focus now shifts to the UDF as they begin deliberations on their new cabinet and leadership.
