KOCHI: Ahead of the highly anticipated worldwide release of 'Drishyam 3' on May 21—which also marks his birthday—superstar Mohanlal has opened up about the profound psychological transformation of his iconic character, Georgekutty. Speaking at a recent press meet alongside director Jeethu Joseph, the actor revealed that the upcoming film will delve deep into the emotional toll the last 13 years have taken on the character and his family.
"Georgekutty is not a criminal; he is just an ordinary man who did everything to protect his family," Mohanlal explained. "However, for the past 13 years, he has been living in hell. Guilt is like a shadow that constantly haunts a person. He is now more philosophical and has become an 'evolved soul.' His children have grown up and have started asking questions. This continuous run and hiding must come to an end."
Director Jeethu Joseph emphasized that 'Drishyam 3' is not merely a suspense thriller relying on plot twists, but an intense emotional conflict between two families. The narrative will heavily focus on Georgekutty’s escalating mental conflicts and how he reacts to the mounting pressure.
The makers also shared exciting casting updates. Kalabhavan Shajohn, who delivered a memorable performance as the antagonistic police officer Sahadevan in the first part, will return in the third installment. However, Jeethu Joseph clarified that Sahadevan will no longer be a part of the police force in this film. Furthermore, actress Veena Nandakumar joins the franchise as an investigative journalist whose probe into Georgekutty’s life plays a crucial role in the story.
